She looked over my account and didn’t see anything suspicious, but to be sure she transferred me to another department, who then also transferred me to their security/stolen identity team. They then verified my number and email and an agent called me about five minutes later. I went on to the website instead of calling the number in the email and in the online chat I explained that I believed I may be experiencing a phishing or fraudulent email. Now I can only wait and see if someone actually filed taxes with my info :( The rep claims her profile id is likely why I got the email. I called my friend today to make sure she didn't file with TurboTax this year. Note-He did see another profile id under my email but I created this for a good friend over 7 years ago and it's not been accessed/used since. Gave them the case number and once again a rep says no other email address is coming up linked to my personal info. Is the email from TurboTax or not? It shows [ and phone number 1-86 seems to be correct.ītw, I also forwarded the email to [ and it was returned undeliverable.īeing worried most of today I called a different TurboTax customer service number and was routed to the security department. I'm really concerned because my identity was stolen and used during summer 2021. I was emailed a case number (and yes it's legit). I did get the call back and the helpful rep looked into it and did a search using my name, bd, and last 4 of social and no indication my info was used in another account. This time I was told I need to speak with someone in identity/security department -wait time of 30 min so a call back was put in. During the convo the call 'dropped' so I had to call back and explain everything again to a new rep. Called the number -rep was not knowledgeable. I received same email Thurs 7pm about someone using my info for a different TurboTax account. It was a breeze and I checked my account as of FEB 22,2022 it says: Your 2021 Tax Return Is Not Processed. IRS.GOV has a new log in system and they've partnered with ID.ME it sends a text or code to your phone anytime something changes with your info. UPDATE FEBRUARY 2022: UPDATE and I recommend this to anyone. I just hope with this post you heed my warning and don't make the same mistake. Thanks to the TurboTax reps who took the time to help! If you did not make this update, we recommend you contact TurboTax Support at 80.Īfter combing through my account with multiple reps and being satisfied that no one has gained access I proceeded to change my password and activate 2nd step to send me a text message every time I try to log in. If you made this update, there is nothing more to do. To top the whole thing off I got another email today.
